My research on Diabetes and Asthma led me to information on what is almost totally unheard of or at least most are unaware of and yet I think it will turn out to be the greatest medical or health-based discovery in my lifetime.
This pertains to a progressively developed mistake in your breathing that leads to ill health and can even kill you but has a direct relationship to your life expectancy, and yet no one knows about it.
After 7 years of research, going thru and reading over 300 books, thousands of studies, articles, and daily reports, primarily on diabetes, this is in my opinion the real sleeper that I will be digging into a lot further as soon as I can find the time.
It has become apparent that diabetes and almost every ailment known to the average person, if you have it, very likely you inadvertently earned it and brought it on by a mistake or error you have made regarding what has gone into and you have done with and to your body.
Particularly something it was not made to handle.
Primarily in food, drink lifestyle decisions, and most mistakes unknowingly.
This one has to do with your breathing and a progressive breathing error you have developed (me too) that needs to be fixed (me too). This error likely will have almost as much to do with your’s and my life expectancy, as the gross eating errors. It will have a lot to do with overall health, especially if you are over 50 years old.
This blockbuster was discovered and fully explored over 25 years ago by a Russian Doctor Buteyko, (now deceased).
Just as a quick review, as a medical student he noted in his hospital work, he discovered he could predict which patients would survive and be going home soon, and the others he could predict with pretty good accuracy how long before their date of death would occur. He discovered he could do this simply by analyzing their breathing rate.
Years later he boiled this down to a simple health test, and today you can use a similar method and in a few minutes rate your health.
Those with a high score were very unlikely to get sick with anything and those with a low score were in trouble or about to be.

Here is an oversimplification, to understand the concept, let’s say your ideal breathing rate is 10 times a minute and you like me are naturally automatically breathing 15 times a minute.
This is over-breathing, and here is how it works and how it looks to me like we got or developed the breathing error over our years.
You and I and everyone else likely believe that to be healthy we have to do deep breathing to improve our oxygen supply and have good health.
Turns out this is an incorrect assumption.
You get ample oxygen from your breathing, it is over-breathing that results in believe this or not, reduced oxygen delivery to your cells.
Likely this error developed with various illnesses you have had. Your body defends against attacks by germs and viruses using every tool at hand. One of these survival systems your body uses is that bacteria etc thrive in an acidic body and almost can not survive in an alkaline body.
Eating cooked food, for example, a cooked tomato has an acidic effect on your body, a raw one alkaline. To make a killer environment to gain the upper hand your body needs to make itself alkaline and when gravely ill they take your TPR in a hospital, the R stands for Respiration because they know when your respiration is way up you are pretty sick because your body breathing rate ups your body alkalinity. In self-defense, in some illnesses, your body has gone to a higher breathing rate and just has never got back down to normal breathing rates after the illness was over.
It helps to understand how this error may happen. This is why people have asthma, I and nearly half of all diabetics have sleep apnea, and it turns out this wrong breathing rate problem is a contributor to a whole lot of ailments including Diabetes, migraines, high blood pressure, etc etc.
The surprising key here is carbon dioxide……that’s right, high carbon dioxide is needed in your blood to deliver, get this, oxygen to your cells. This is all common and accepted information, this was known before Dr. Buteykos’s discovery.
This is known as the Bohr effect.
The problem he figured out a solution to, was in over breathing you exhale too much carbon dioxide and if you over breath enough and exhale nearly all of your carbon dioxide, it can kill you for lack of oxygen delivery to your cells.
This is what asthma turns out to be…… body self-defense, a system to keep you from killing yourself from over-breathing. Some people have a heightened development of this protection and some have it not at all.
It is interesting to note that asthmatics outlive non-asthmatics and come down with fewer illnesses.
The automatic body reaction an asthmatic has is his airways shut down and restrict his breathing when he is over-breathing.
So if he develops over-breathing he automatically develops asthma. Those without this automatic asthma airway closing self-defense will be subject to other ailments and diseases as a result of breathing causing low oxygen delivery to cells.
I spent almost a month researching this originally. Russia, Australia, and a few places in Ireland have been using this retraining your breathing to fix asthma successfully for 25 years. Read newspaper reporters reports, TV stations, and individuals that he retrained their breathing….hundreds of comments, and there have been several studies.
Of All the studies I have read, on any subject, Dr. Buteykos’s method is the only one I have ever seen that has 100% success, in that everyone in these several studies said they showed at least some improvement. This is a learned process, and despite many people can not learn total control many had 100% success in eliminating their serious asthma for life, and as I said 100% reported at least some improvement.
This is a training method now taught in Russian hospitals and just now in the U.S. by Dr. Buteykos’s system of trainers.
That is background. They teach it on DVD and other methods, but the live training is most effective, it is a bit like learning to play the piano, it is kind of hard to do reading a book. A teacher is best.
Their training also fixes sleep apnea, which I have and use a machine for. Same reason as asthma, your body shuts down your breathing while sleeping because you are over-breathing, exhaling too much carbon dioxide, and you go periods of no breathing at all as your air passage shuts down.
A U.S. University was doing a study on learning to correct a breathing error and I have been awaiting its completion because it was using biofeedback training with a computer in retraining your breathing error. This appeared to me as the better way to retrain, all methods take hours of exercises to retrain your automatic breathing error, sometimes for months.
Then I just now read the FDA has approved a breathing retraining device to retrain your breathing to fix ….get this, fix your High Blood Pressure without medication.
7 studies have been done, doctors are recommending it, etc. and Amazon is selling it. Reviews by users on Amazon are all good except one.
Let’s backtrack here… Your breathing is an automatic system that your body’s survival system currently is using as its best guess of what is correct for you. The more illnesses you have been thru, it seems the more likely your breathing rate never got slowed back down to normal.
The Russian astronauts were retrained to breathe slower and could stay in space twice as long as U.S. Astronauts using Dr. Buteyko methods to retrain the rate.
They also used it with Russian Athletes to gain an advantage.
The “Respirate” trade name for Blood Pressure control, which comes with FDA approval after the expensive studies, is expensive. $200 or better at Amazon. Look for others (similar) to be available soon, likely at a much lower price but with no FDA approval.
This training is done with headphones and music (Meditation System) which gets your breathing to gradually adjust. This is a long time action, that I am not sure ever gets you to the optimate breathing rate and we will have more soon as we find what happens with the University study.
This is soon scheduled to be completed by using a feedback system on your computer to retrain your automatic breathing rate.
This Buteyko Method has been a sensational simple fix, (with training) for many sentenced otherwise to a lifetime of asthma and a lifetime of every increasing dangerous medication.
Even those that never stuck with it long enough to completely change breathing enough showed much improvement needing much less medication.
Have never read any reports of anyone taking the training to get off a machine for sleep apnea that ever reported not getting off the machine.
Mayo Clinic calls it an accepted asthma and Blood Pressure Treatment since the medical establishment never recognizes anything like a “cure.”
This improving cell oxygenation by increasing CO2 levels in your bloodstream is achieved by retraining to breathing slower but most importantly more shallowly.
Breathing rate is determined not by your oxygen level as you always thought. When your Co2 increases, to a certain level your automatic system breaths. When it goes below a certain level then your breathing slows and/or stops. Entirely controlled by the Co2 level in your bloodstream.
The error is these two “off and on” breathing points have been moved.
(Your Breathing rate) The current breathing rate is running Co2 below the maximum health level of maxing Co2 by your blood for healthy oxygenation to your body’s cells.
Contrary to lay belief, taking deep breaths worsens lowering Co2 and delivering oxygen to cells, This also increases blood pressure from these new disclosures.
This is all aggravated by hyperventilation when people over breath when they think they are deprived of oxygen and often then hyperventilate and even get to panic attacks.
They’re over-breathing means they are over exhaling carbon dioxide, (co2) making oxygen supply to cells even worse.
The solution for panic attacks brought on by this in the past was to breathe into a paper bag which by rebreathing, increased your carbon dioxide levels and solved the problem.
When people over breath which means deep and faster than normal, carbon dioxide in the body lowers.
This can induce anxiety and panic and take a physical toll on the body. Low levels of carbon dioxide cause tingling in the hands and feet, restrict blood flow to the brain which lowers your cognitive ability.
When breathing is in excess and becomes extreme, you develop low levels of carbon dioxide, and your survival system, in many people, inflames airway passages, your bodies attempt to slow or cut the extreme over-breathing. This is called ASTHMA, or an asthma attack.
Here now, in this article, we and you are becoming aware for the first time….it also affects blood pressure and they have found by lowering your breathing rate to more correct, you automatically lower your blood pressure without medication.
